“Attending unusual trade shows will become a new leisure activity, as perverse fascinations and hobbies spill out of the world wide web in search of a physical manifestation.” – Things Magazine. I think it is true already. Trade shows, focus groups, support groups (Palahniuk was right), responding to extra casting calls on Craigslist for locally shot toothpaste commercials — these are all free entertainments. If everyone is a creative and everyone is a blogger/writer, everyone is looking for a random flash of inspiration. Maybe it is also an extension of reality television. Why watch a program about a mineral farmer looking for love, if you can attend MINExpo instead?
