Quite frankly, I don't WANT a person who's "more like me" in the White House. Because your average guy, your everyday man, is completely incompetent when it comes to running a country. For the highest office of the land? I want the best of the best. I want somebody so damn smart I don't WANT to feel comfortable. I want somebody so smart that I'm afraid to speak for fear of sounding like a bucket of sludge.

THAT'S who I trust in the White House. There's a difference between caring about the common man and being the common man, and the idea of the best of the best is not in stark contrast with caring about the "little people".

But yeah, if he's a bit of a nerd, that makes my day.

Rachel~
I don't think this is supposed to show him as extraordinary. I felt it was more a showing of him as an every man. A real person, not some jerk lawyer on a pedestal. It makes me feel better he knows about mundane things in addition to the political. He's more like me. And that's comforting.

Well... we've never had a president who grew up on pop culture like this before, have we?

Still cool, but I think it shows him as a product of the times more than stating that Obama is somehow extraordinary for it.
