This is an aside titled 'End of Life' dated 5/4/09

Most of us, would prefer to die at home, with family. Yet “the majority of us die in hospitals and other institutions, often in pain.” Radio Boston is airing an extraordinarily moving series on end of life care. It makes me not want to get old in Boston. “Aggressive medical care at the end of life accounts for one third of all Medicare spending, yet such spending and extensive treatment can too easily decrease a patient’s quality of life during this period, and thus, their quality of death.”
