In spite of the thunderstorms, I’m in New York this week checking out the Bucky Fuller show, Dagerisms, and some other things. Send me an email if you’d like to meet up: joanne.mcneilGMAIL. Also, I’m for sure going to Laurie Anderson’s talk with Elizabeth Diller (Diller Scofidio + Renfro) at The Rose Theater Thursday evening. It’s not an exaggeration to say they are two of the most brilliant and innovate people working today. I’m so excited about it.

“Letting process take precedence over results does not necessarily guarantee that something new will emerge. Transgression is difficult to visualize, let alone conceptualize. Recognition takes time. No matter what form your thoughts take, follow them. If you don’t care to follow through, others will not take you seriously. There are not going to be a lot of free rides or life savers out there. Most of you are going to leave this privileged bubble and enter the reality of your worth” — Richard Serra addressing the Williams class of 2008. Laurie Anderson delivered the commencement address at RISD. She also received an honorary degree. (via.)
